Blake Shelton has firmly dismissed rumors suggesting that he and his wife, Gwen Stefani, are heading for divorce. The country music star addressed these speculations during an interview with Country Countdown USA, which was released on Saturday.
Shelton shared that he first noticed the swirling rumors around October or November, when articles began surfacing claiming that he and Stefani had separated. According to these reports, the couple was supposedly “not even seeing each other anymore” and were “going through a divorce.”
Recalling the media frenzy, Shelton humorously pointed out the inconsistency in the rumors. He noted that just a week after such claims, photographs of them would emerge, such as one showing the couple leaving a grocery store together. This would prompt headlines to declare that they were “back together again.”
He further jested about the cyclical nature of the gossip, mentioning how another week might pass without them being spotted, leading to renewed tabloid assertions of an impending divorce.
“And another week goes by, and we’re not seen at the grocery store [and an article reads], ‘They’re divorcing!’” he joked.
The “God’s Country” crooner then commented on seeing doctored photos of himself online, sharing that he found them convincing but now doesn’t “believe anything anymore that he’s seen on the internet.”
Last year, Shelton and Stefani, 56, were at the forefront of split rumors when they released their breakup duet “Hangin’ On” in March.
Shelton, however, told Access Hollywood that the track wasn’t a “reflection” of his and the No Doubt singer’s marriage.
Rumors heightened when the couple didn’t attend the CMA Awards in November despite Shelton’s track “Pour Me a Drink” being nominated for Musical Event of the Year.
Shelton and Stefani have not made a red carpet appearance together since March’s The Grand Ole Opry’s OPRY 100 celebration.
The “Don’t Speak” songstress, meanwhile, has also shut down split rumblings by sharing PDA-filled snaps with her husband, including a video of them sharing a New Year’s kiss.
She and Shelton, who met in 2014 while working as coaches on “The Voice,” have been married since 2021.
Stefani has previously shared that the best marriage advice she has received was having a third party, God, in her relationship with Shelton.
The “Hollaback Girl” singer has also admitted that Shelton gave her “a second chance at life” after her divorce from Gavin Rossdale, whom she was married to from 2002 to 2016.
As for Shelton, he was married to Kaynette Williams from 2003 to 2006 and Miranda Lambert from 2011 to 2015.
