Blue Island man Derek Rucker pleads guilty of of battering several women, police officer in Chicago, Evanston, CPD and docs show

A resident of Blue Island has admitted guilt in connection to a series of assaults that took place in both Chicago and Evanston over the past few weeks, as revealed by court documents.

The man faced allegations of attacking multiple individuals in the Chicago and Evanston areas during the recent weeks, according to statements from the Chicago police.

Derek Rucker, aged 37, has been formally charged with multiple counts, including aggravated battery against a transit worker or passenger, aggravated battery in a public setting, and aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, related to the incidents.

Authorities reported that Rucker’s arrest came soon after he allegedly struck a 44-year-old woman in the face, leading her to collapse to the ground on the 500 block of North State Street.

He’s also charged in connection with other aggravated battery incidents, including on Wednesday in the 4600-block of North Broadway involving a 40-year-old woman; on Sept. 30 in the 1200-block of West Loyola Avenue involving a 23-year-old woman, on Sept. 30 in the 300-block of Ridge Avenue in Evanston involving an off-duty police officer; and on Sept. 21 in the 900-block of West Belmont Avenue involving a 27-year-old woman, police said.

On Wednesday, Rucker pleases guilty on separate counts of agg. battery to a peace officer; agg. battery in a public place; agg battery to trransit employee; and two counts of burglary.

He was sentenced to 7 years IDOC on each count, all to be served concurrently.
