St. Johns County Fire Rescue said the fire happened around 12:15 p.m. Sunday, and all five boaters are safe.
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Five boaters are safe after the sailboat they were on caught fire on the St. Johns River near the mouth of Julington Creek just after noon Sunday, according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
In a Facebook post, SJFR said firefighters responded to the boat fire around 12:15 p.m. Sunday.
When firefighters arrived to the waters joining Julington Creek to the St. Johns River, they found the sailboat fully involved in flames and smoke, and five people in the water.
SJFR said in the post all five people were rescued by a fellow boater, who brought them to shore. A JFRD fireboat then arrived and put out the flames.
SJFR said no one was injured in the fire, and its cause is still under investigation.
