SEATTLE, Ohio (WJW) Border Patrol officers in Seattle confiscated thousands of fake Labubu dolls, officials announced late last week.

On Friday, Brian Humphrey, the director of field operations for U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Seattle, shared photos of dolls resembling the Hong Kong-based collectible plush toys that have grown in popularity recently.

In a social media post, Humphrey said officers seized 11,134 counterfeit Labubu dolls worth more than $513,000.

“LabuWHO?” Humphrey wrote, showing one of the knock-off Labubus, dubbed “Lafufus” online, holding a Coca-Cola bottle. Another photo showed a box full of the counterfeits.

“Fake Labubus are not welcome in America. Thanks for the good catch Seattle!” U.S. Customs and Border Protection added, sharing the post.

The seizure comes just weeks after the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a safety warning about the fake dolls, stating that they’re small enough to fit inside a child’s mouth and block their airways, as affiliate WGN previously reported.

The safety report went on to say that “Lafufus” are poorly made and can break apart easily

“These fake Labubu dolls are dangerous, illegal and have no place in American homes,” CPSC Acting Chairman Peter A. Feldman said in the report. “No parent should have to wonder if a toy will stop their child from breathing. Protect your children and buy only from reputable sellers.”
