The Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Tucson, Arizona, has acknowledged it is looking into reports of a potential ransom note linked to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of NBC “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie.
“We are currently aware of circulating reports concerning possible ransom notes associated with the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance,” the department stated on Tuesday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office emphasized its commitment to pursuing all tips and leads with utmost seriousness.
“Every piece of information received is immediately forwarded to our detectives, who are working closely with the FBI,” the statement read.
This announcement followed closely after TMZ reported receiving an unverified ransom note that allegedly demanded a “substantial amount” of money for the safe return of Guthrie.
TMZ said it contacted law enforcement.
