A significant development has surfaced in the ongoing case of Chance Englebert, the Wyoming man who vanished in 2019. Englebert, who was 25 at the time, disappeared while on a family visit in Gering, Nebraska.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance included a heated disagreement with his wife and her relatives. Following the argument, Englebert expressed his desire to return to Wyoming. He stepped out of his wife’s car and started walking on his own.
Surveillance footage captured Englebert’s last known movements as he traversed the streets of Gering. This sighting occurred roughly an hour before a storm swept through the area, adding to the mystery of his sudden disappearance.
On Thursday, a new twist emerged when the Scotts Bluff County attorney released a statement revealing the discovery of skeletal remains at Scotts Bluff National Monument, located west of Gering. This finding could potentially shed light on the mystery that has lingered for years.
In a statement issued Thursday, the Scotts Bluff County attorney discussed skeletal remains found at Scotts Bluff National Monument, west of Gehrig.
“Several items were located that family identified as belonging to Chance Englebert when he went missing on July 6, 2019,” the statement read.
“The investigation into his disappearance has been active and ongoing since it was originally reported. The Douglas County Coroner’s Office in Omaha is assisting to facilitate the forensic examination of dental records, DNA samples, and other scientific examinations of the skeletal remains.”
The examination is expected to take place in the near future, but a date has not been set. Authorities were clear that no identity could be positively identified until completion of the forensic examination.
