Suspect injured in St. Johns County deputy-involved shooting, US-1 shut down temporarily

Deputies from the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office engaged in a shooting with an armed individual on US-1, near International Golf Parkway, shortly before 4 p.m.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A shooting involving law enforcement has resulted in an injured suspect and the closure of U.S.-1, just south of International Golf Parkway, as reported by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities confirmed that deputies exchanged gunfire with an armed suspect on U.S.-1 North, moments before 4 p.m.

The suspect sustained injuries during the incident and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

According to St. Johns Fire Rescue, no deputies were injured in the confrontation. Another individual was also taken to the hospital, and officials anticipate the road will remain closed for several hours. The sheriff’s office assures that there is no danger to the public.
