The Birmingham Police Department has made an arrest following a tragic shooting that took place on Friday, December 19th. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by the community in addressing violent crime.

Authorities reported that their officers were dispatched to the 900 block of 14th Place Southwest around 11:20 p.m. after receiving a distress call about a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive individual inside a residence, marking the start of a somber investigation.

Initial findings from the investigation suggest that the victim was engaged in a physical confrontation with an adult male suspect. This altercation, which occurred during a gathering at the residence, unfortunately escalated to gun violence, resulting in the victim being fatally shot.
