Brian Cox flashes TIFF audience during kilt wardrobe malfunction

Brian Cox gave fans a little more than they bargained for while wearing a kilt at TIFF.

In the photographs, the “Glenrothan” star, aged 79, donned a classic black kilt while attending the global premiere of the film at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday. As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, during a discussion panel following the screening, an audience member alerted him that from his seated position, he was unintentionally revealing more than intended.

“Is it that bad?” the “Succession” star asked. “Or that good?”

“You have to wear the kilt the proper way,” he stated amid the crowd’s laughter. “The kilt is crafted to keep you cool and liberated. And it’s a brilliant sense of freedom.”

While trying to steer the conversation back to the movie, Cox expressed his desire to narrate the story his way, unlike other filmmakers who “cover their ass…or not,” he joked.

“What an unfortunate phrase,” he reportedly added. “I’m really sorry about this. I never thought I’d be in this position.”

After audience members continued to chant “Your legs! Your legs!” the actor turned his ire to producer Neil Zeigler, who he complained had encouraged him to don the kilt for the event. “Whose idea was it to wear these f–ing kilts?” he joked, adding, “Certainly not my idea.”

“It was the producer’s idea,” he continued. “They always try to f–k you up, at the end of the day. They can be so vengeful.”

Cox also quipped that Zeiger was “probably wearing underpants” at the event, saying that kilts are “about being free and easy.”

“It’s hard not to wear underpants,” he reportedly said.

The actor is known for laying it all out on the table — in April, he slammed Joaquin Phoenix for his “truly terrible” turn in “Napoleon” and said he would have done “a lot better” with the role.

“It’s terrible,” Cox said during a live talk, according to the Standard. “A truly terrible performance by Joaquin Phoenix. It really is appalling. I don’t know what he was thinking.”

In March, he turned his scorn on Meghan Markle, telling Haute Living New York that the Duchess of Sussex “knew what she was getting into” when marrying Prince Harry in 2018.

The “Suits” alum, he claimed, had “childhood dreams of marrying Prince Charming and all that s–t we see as fantasy that could be our lives in our dreams.” He later walked back the comments about the exiled royals, saying he “actually” had “enormous sympathy for them.”

And back in 2022, Cox ruffled the feathers of Johnny Depp fans by labeling the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor “so overblown, so overrated” in his memoir “Putting the Rabbit in the Hat.”

“I mean, ‘Edward Scissorhands.’ Let’s face it, if you come on with hands like that and pale, scarred-face make-up, you don’t have to do anything,” he continued in part. “And he didn’t. And subsequently, he’s done even less.”
