Bridgeport, Chicago Sees Surge in Residential Burglaries: Police Alert Public to Series of 8 Apartment Break-ins

Burglars hit at least 8 apartments in SW Side neighborhood, CPD warns

CHICAGO (WLS) — Chicago’s Southwest Side has recently been hit by a series of burglaries, prompting a police alert on Friday.

Authorities have reported at least eight apartment break-ins in the Bridgeport area throughout December, with two incidents occurring on Christmas Eve.

In these cases, the burglars gained access by forcing their way through doors and stealing items from the residences.

The burglaries took place at various times and locations, as detailed by the police.

  • 2900-block of S. Wallace St. on Dec. 13 at 7:55 p.m.

  • 2900-block of S. Emerald Ave. on Dec. 22 at 4:40 p.m.

  • 3000-block of S. Lowe Ave. on Dec. 22 at 4:30 p.m.

  • 3100-block of S. Lowe Ave. on Dec. 22 between 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

  • 2600-block of S. Shields Ave. sometime between Dec. 23 at 9:30 a.m. and Dec. 27 at 6 p.m.

  • 2600-block of S. Shields Ave. sometime between Dec. 23 at noon and Dec. 26 at 4:45 p.m.

  • 400-block of W. 28th St. on Dec. 24 at 7:50 p.m.

  • 400-block of W. 32nd St. on Dec. 24 at 8:14 p.m.
