Brunswick Officer Arrested in Domestic Dispute: What This Means for the Community and Police Department

Brunswick Police Officer Andrea Williams, aged 41, is facing charges of criminal trespass in a family violence case.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Following her arrest in connection with a domestic altercation on Monday evening, Officer Andrea Williams of the Brunswick Police Department has been placed on administrative leave, the department revealed on Tuesday.

According to Brunswick PD, the incident unfolded when Glynn County officers responded to a call at a residence on Red Oak Drive at approximately 7:30 p.m. The officers’ investigation pointed to Officer Andrea Williams as a participant in the domestic dispute.

Subsequently, Williams, 41, was taken into custody and charged with criminal trespass involving family violence.

The Brunswick Police Department stated that Williams will remain on administrative leave as the investigation into the incident continues.

“Brunswick Police Department is committed to serving with integrity and accountability,” Chief Angela Smith said in response to Williams’ arrest. “Public safety will always be our priority.”
