A group of inebriated individuals threw beer cans at police officers during a high-speed chase in San Bernardino on Sunday, according to law enforcement officials.
The group, who were drinking, attempted to evade sheriff’s deputies after being caught at 2:13 a.m. performing “donuts” in a 2010 Infiniti G37 at an intersection in Yucaipa, a city located 15 miles east of San Bernardino, authorities reported.
The chase unfolded near the entrance of Crafton Hills Community College. During the pursuit, two passengers in the Infiniti tossed beer cans in a futile effort to deter the pursuing officers, according to county police.

The driver, identified as 21-year-old Christian Ivan Rios from Yucaipa, accelerated to over 100 miles per hour and ran through several stop lights during the chase, as stated in a police press release.
Rios maneuvered through residential areas before stopping in a driveway. He then attempted to flee on foot along with his companions, 24-year-old Adrian Adono and 21-year-old Jerry Barrientos.
Deputies then caught the three young men without incident, ending the alleged beer can bandits’ escapades. The passengers were arrested for public intoxication and resisting a peace officer, cops said.

Rios was slapped with felony evading charges as well as exhibition of speed, reckless driving and driving under the influence, authorities said.
The Infiniti will impounded for 30 days because of a California law mandating the action following a reckless driving charge, according to police.
