(KRON) A Bay Area man was arrested for robbing three San Francisco banks in a single afternoon Wednesday, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The suspect, 62-year-old Valentino Luchin of San Francisco, is a former executive chef at two failed Bay Area restaurants Rose Pistola in North Beach and Ottavio in Walnut Creek, which he also owned, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

On Wednesday, Luchin allegedly walked into a bank on the 1100 block of Grant Avenue and passed a note to a bank employee demanding money.

Cash seized during the investigation. (SFPD)

“Fearing for their safety, the employee complied and provided the suspect with a bag of U.S. currency,” SFPD said. “The suspect then fled from the area with the money.”

Later that day, Luchin robbed two more banks in San Francisco’s Central District by similar means, police said. Officers identified Luchin as the suspect and arrested him the same day.

Luchin was booked into the San Francisco County Jail on multiple robbery charges.
