California Court Drops Charges Against Doctor in Alleged Family Cliff Incident: Details Inside

SAN FRANCISCO — Over three years after being accused of deliberately driving his family off a cliff in Northern California, a Pasadena radiologist has had all criminal charges against him dropped, as reported by the Bay Area News Group.

On Monday, a judge in San Mateo County dismissed three attempted murder charges against 45-year-old Dharmesh Patel. The decision followed updates from his medical team, indicating that Patel was making significant progress in a mental health treatment program.

The incident occurred in January 2023 when Patel allegedly plunged his Tesla off the Devil’s Slide along the Pacifica coast, located in San Mateo County. Emergency teams worked tirelessly to free Patel’s family — his 41-year-old wife, 7-year-old daughter, and 4-year-old son — from the vehicle wreckage after a 300-foot drop. Remarkably, everyone survived, with first responders labeling their survival as miraculous.
