In a concerning mix-up, a suspected murderer has been inadvertently set free from a California jail, as confirmed by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect’s current location is unknown, prompting an urgent manhunt.

Isaiah Jamon Andrews, a 20-year-old from Kent, Washington, was mistakenly released from the Martinez Detention Facility on October 22. It was only after his release that the Sheriff’s Office staff realized the error. “Upon recognizing the mistake, we conducted a search of the immediate vicinity, but Andrews had already vanished,” stated the sheriff’s office in a release.

The effort to locate Andrews is now being spearheaded by U.S. Marshals, who are actively pursuing leads.
