Callum Turner, fiancé to pop sensation Dua Lipa, recently shared the remarkable story of their first meeting, describing it as “crazy.” The 35-year-old actor recounted their initial encounter to the Sunday Times, revealing that it took place over drinks in Los Angeles just before a mutual friend’s birthday celebration. Turner fondly recalled the instant connection they felt.
During their conversation, the pair discovered a surprising coincidence. “We sat next to each other and realized we were reading the same book, which is crazy,” Turner said, referring to the novel ‘Trust’ by Hernán Díaz. This unexpected commonality sparked their connection further.
Turner explained that he had just completed the first chapter of the book, a detail he shared with 30-year-old Lipa. To his amazement, she responded with, “I just finished the first chapter, too,” to which he playfully replied, “So we’re on the same page.”
Turner “had just finished the first chapter,” which he relayed to Lipa, 30.
“She looked at me and said, ‘I just finished the first chapter, too,’” he recalled, noting that he cheekily responded, “So we’re on the same page.”
Smiling, he admitted that in “the movie version” of the pivotal moment, he looks “up [to] the sky” and says, “I hear you. I understand. The signs are loud, don’t worry.”
In January 2024, Page Six revealed that Turner and Lipa were dating after they were spotted dancing the night away at his “Masters of Air” premiere afterparty in LA.
At the time, an insider told us they were “mad about each other” — despite the newness of their relationship.
Three months later, the pair was photographed engaging in some PDA while in New York City.
By December, they were reportedly engaged.
“Dua and Callum are so in love and know this is forever. They are engaged and couldn’t be happier,” a source told the Sun at the time.
“Dua has had one of the best years of her career professionally, and this is the cherry on the cake.”
The source added, “Callum is such a solid support for Dua, and they make a wonderful couple. Their family and friends are so happy. It’s been an amazing Christmas for them.”
Lipa confirmed the engagement during an April interview with British Vogue that was published in June.
“This decision to grow old together, to see a life and just, I don’t know, be best friends forever — it’s a really special feeling,” she gushed at the time.
Given the duo’s busy work schedules, the singer noted that they were not in a rush to walk down the aisle.
In fact, she said she wanted to finish her “Radical Optimism” tour, which wraps in December, before they start the wedding planning process.
“We’re just enjoying this period,” she shared, adding that she would love to start a family with Turner “one day.”
