A Canadian illegal immigrant known for striking a teenage girl at the Jersey Shore over her pro-Trump attire has faced a setback in her legal defense efforts. Despite attempts to crowdfund her immigration case, she fell far short of her financial target.
In a bid to cover legal expenses, an online campaign for Kaitlyn Tracey aimed to gather $10,000 but managed to collect only $4,857. The campaign’s underwhelming outcome came as a final defeat when she was ordered to be deported to Canada on Tuesday.
Previously, her husband, Matthew Geroni, had initiated a GoFundMe page to support Tracey, 33, but GoFundMe swiftly removed it. The platform cited violations of its policies, which prohibit fundraising for individuals accused of violent crimes.
Nicknamed the “Maple Leaf Menace” by the Department of Homeland Security, Tracey entered a guilty plea remotely from a Texas ICE detention facility. She admitted to one count of simple assault, a misdemeanor, as part of a favorable plea arrangement finalized Tuesday in Toms River.
As a consequence, Tracey was deported to Canada and received a one-day jail sentence. However, she benefited from time served due to her previous detention in Ocean County last month.
Tracey was nabbed after confronting a group of four teenagers — including a girl wearing a USA 250 tank top – before launching the twisted attack on July 3 on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach.
The Canadian got into an argument with the teen and slapped her across the face in the caught-on-camera assault, cops said.
Tracey overstayed her visa and was in the US illegally at the time of her arrest, according to DHS.
