CBP officer fires weapon during road rage incident near JFK Airport entrance

An on-duty officer from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) discharged his firearm amid a road rage confrontation near New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Tuesday, as per recent reports.

The altercation took place around 4:45 a.m. on the Van Wyck Expressway, close to one of the airport’s entrances, according to a report from KABC-TV.

An aerial image highlights traffic near JFK Airport, where a federal agent was involved in a road rage incident, reportedly leading to the officer firing his weapon. The incident was captured by WNYW.

The CBP officer informed authorities that he was assaulted by another driver following a minor vehicular collision. In response, he claimed to have fired his service weapon multiple times in self-defense.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The driver of the other vehicle left before Port Authority police officers arrived.

No one has been located or arrested. 

The incident resulted in the closure of several lanes on the freeway. Drivers on their way to the airport were advised of significant traffic delays.
