Movie theater giants like AMC, Regal, and Cinemark are gearing up to entice popcorn enthusiasts with a variety of promotions, featuring everything from complimentary large popcorns to special bring-your-own-bucket events.

WASHINGTON — As National Popcorn Day approaches, cinema chains nationwide are celebrating with enticing offers that make enjoying this beloved snack more budget-friendly. This year, the festivities align with Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, providing a perfect opportunity for movie lovers to indulge in popcorn deals throughout the extended weekend.

From complimentary popcorn servings to unique bring-your-own-bucket opportunities, theaters are rolling out the red carpet for those who prefer their popcorn plain, drenched in butter, or even sprinkled with candy.

In particular, Cinemark is hosting an engaging Bring Your Own Bucket event from Sunday, January 18, to Monday, January 19. Patrons are invited to fill any container they bring, provided it doesn’t exceed 400 ounces (just over three gallons), for just $5. Moreover, in collaboration with Lowe’s, customers can fill a five-gallon blue bucket from the hardware store for the same price. Additionally, Cinemark is offering a 10% discount on online gift card purchases during this promotional period.

Cinemark is hosting a Bring Your Own Bucket event from Sunday, Jan. 18, through Monday, Jan. 19. Customers can pay $5 to fill a container of their choice, as long as it holds no more than 400 ounces — just over three gallons. The chain is also partnering with Lowe’s, allowing guests to fill a Lowe’s five-gallon blue bucket with popcorn for $5. Cinemark is also offering 10% off online gift cards during the promotion.

AMC is offering free popcorn to members of its Popcorn Pass program. From Friday, Jan. 16, through Monday, Jan. 19, Popcorn Pass holders can receive their first large popcorn for free. AMC is also rolling out popcorn-themed collectibles during the weekend.

Regal is encouraging fans to dress up. Moviegoers who wear a costume on Monday, Jan. 19, can receive a free large popcorn. Guests who post a photo in costume and tag @RegalMovies on social media may also be entered for a chance to win three months of Regal Unlimited.

Cineplex is offering a free small popcorn with the purchase of a movie ticket from Friday, Jan. 16, through Monday, Jan. 19.

Marcus Theatres is giving out a free large popcorn on Monday, Jan. 19, along with scratch-off coupons for concession prizes.

B&B Theatres will offer Backstage Pass members a free regular popcorn with the purchase of a ticket on National Popcorn Day.

Harkins Theatres is discounting popcorn by 50% in all sizes on Monday, Jan. 19. Harkins Awards members who participate will also receive a free small popcorn in February.
