CENTER POINT, Ala. (WIAT) — Authorities have pinpointed a juvenile suspect in relation to a blaze that erupted at the Lovelady Thrift Store this past Wednesday.

The fire ravaged two trailers brimming with donated items. Center Point Fire Chief Brandon Dahlen disclosed that the fire was deliberately ignited by a young individual, whose identity remains confidential due to their minor status. The Center Point Fire District, in collaboration with partner agencies, has been diligently gathering evidence pertinent to the case.

“The Center Point Fire District is grateful to the community for their valuable input in advancing the investigation,” Dahlen remarked in a statement. “We also wish to commend the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for their invaluable assistance and backing throughout this investigation.”
