In an impressive display of sheer willpower, Miki Sudo once again clutched victory at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, held on a bright Saturday morning in Coney Island. Sudo devoured a stunning 33 hot dogs, securing her hold on the illustrious Mustard Belt.
Though this year matched her performance from the previous competition, where she also wolfed down 33 hot dogs, it’s notably less than her awe-inspiring feat in 2024 when she set a record by consuming 51. The achievements mark a journey of determined perseverance and skill in the culinary competition arena.
Capturing her 11th Mustard Belt in 2025, Sudo confided that she felt slightly disappointed for not surpassing her personal best, expressing that she “let the fans down a little.” Her sincerity illustrates the passion she pours into every competition.
Sudo, now 40, has become a formidable force in the world of competitive eating since her debut in 2014. Undefeated in every women’s bracket competition she’s entered, her legacy continues to dominate and inspire both fans and competitors alike.
The Florida woman is graduate of the state’s Hillsborough College and has a dental hygiene degree.
Sudo partner, Nick Wehry, is also a competitive eater. “When they’re not racking up records on the professional competitive eating circuit or searching for America’s Next Best Food Challenge, The Hungry Couple aids in restaurant promotions and enjoys an active lifestyle in their home state of Florida with their infant son Max and American Bully, Dennis,” they say on their website.
The only one she missed was in 2021 when she was pregnant, paving the way for Michelle Lesco to claim the win, with 30.75 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes that year.
Lesco landed in second place with 22.
The 42-year-old from Tucson, AZ, who earned the nickname “Cardboard Shell,” is a senior manager of Youth Services at the Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona.
