Nancy Mace turned airport mix-up into profane 'spectacle': Cop report

Republican Representative Nancy Mace recently found herself at the center of a controversy following a chaotic encounter with police at an airport, according to a revealing police report.

The incident, which occurred on the morning of October 30 at Charleston International Airport, involved Mace, who is also a candidate for the governorship of South Carolina, clashing with officers and TSA agents.

Upon arriving in a silver BMW at an unexpected location, the 47-year-old lawmaker grew frustrated when airport police were not immediately available to escort her to her departure gate.

The report, released on Tuesday, acknowledged that the supervising officer had mistakenly informed colleagues to expect Mace in a white vehicle.

Despite the mix-up, Mace’s reaction, which included profanity-laden outbursts calling the personnel “incompetent idiots,” left officers and security staff feeling visibly shaken and demoralized.

In astonishing video, Mace is seen jabbing her finger at a female TSA agent after being left standing at the security gate for six minutes.

‘You need to go and get whoever, because I’m not going through your TSA line,’ she fumed.

Cops arrived to escort her through the security gate, but Mace then turned her rage on the police.

‘I’m sick of your s***, I’m tired of having to wait. I should not have to wait. You guys are always f***ing late, this is f***ing ridiculous,’ she simmered.

The congresswoman also dragged Senator Tim Scott, her South Carolina Capitol Hill colleague, into the spat, asserting that he would never receive such treatment.

‘Scott would not be f***ing treated this way,’ she yelled.

In his November 12 report, Charleston Airport Police Chief James A. Woods wrote: ‘While it is clear that we hold a certain level of responsibility in miscommunicating the color of Congresswoman Mace’s vehicle, it’s also equally clear that her continued failure to follow established procedures at the checkpoint is what turned a minor miscommunication over the color of a vehicle into the spectacle that this issue has become for our employees and airport workers.’

A TSA officer who was interviewed by cops said he was shocked at Mace’s behavior, particularly given her status as a lawmaker in the nation’s capital.

‘She was still in the checkpoint area when the police officers arrived,’ a supervisory TSA officer said.

He added that they ‘could hear the congresswoman call them ‘f***ing idiots’ and ‘f***ing incompetent,’ while stating that she’s a ‘f***ing representative.’

The officer added that her behavior was ‘very unbecoming if she’s representing us … in a political aspect.’

None of the TSA officers were receiving paychecks at the time due to the government shutdown.

The police report noted that Mace’s previous conduct at the airport, including showing up at undesignated drop-off points, had caused confusion.

In addition, her use of the encrypted messaging app Signal – which ‘no other protectee’ uses for talking to the cops – increased complications.

The ‘high personnel turnover’ in Mace’s office also ‘exacerbated’ the communications difficulties, the report added.

Mace last month hit back after video of the incident emerged, accusing her gubernatorial rival, South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, of orchestrating the leak against her.

‘I wish Alan Wilson spent as much time prosecuting pedophiles as he does spying on me at the airport,’ she said.

Wilson, fired back at Mace, stating: ‘Disrespecting the men and women who keep our airports safe is unacceptable.’

The video appears to have hurt Mace’s candidacy in South Carolina’s 2026 Republican gubernatorial primary.

A Winthrop University poll conducted in October before the airport video surfaced showed her tied with Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette at around 17 percent among GOP voters, ahead of Wilson on 8 percent.

Post-video polling shows clear damage to her standing.

A Wick Research survey taken between November 24 and 26 of 600 likely GOP voters – the first comprehensive snapshot after the airport incident – had Wilson leading at 22.2 percent, Evette at 15.7 percent and Mace dropping to 10.5 percent.

Political observers in Columbia say that while Mace’s combative style once energized her base, the airport video risks reinforcing critics’ claims that she lacks discipline and professionalism.

However, Mace says she is being unfairly targeted by political opponents and that voters will ultimately rally behind her record in Congress.
