The suspect was attending a court appearance for separate child abuse charges when the warrant was served for his arrest.

OCALA, Fla. — A 33-year-old man was arrested in Florida for molesting an 8-year-old child, a sheriff’s office release states.

Dontay Prophet was arrested on a Marion County Sheriff’s Office warrant Tuesday for “lewd and lascivious molestation on a victim younger than 12.” According to the sheriff’s office’s post on social media, the victim told detectives that Prophet sexually assaulted him sometime between December 2012 and December 2014 while he stayed at his house.

The sheriff’s office said the victim provided a “detailed recollection of the molestation,” along with other information that was confirmed by detectives through further investigation.

The release further states that Prophet “molested the victim for an extended period during the encounter,” and warned him not to tell anyone because it would get him in trouble.

A warrant was obtained for Prophet’s arrest, which was served to him during a court appearance he was at for child abuse charges from an incident that occurred at a private school where he worked. He was arrested and transported from the court to the Marion County Jail where he is being held without bond.

The sheriff’s office said investigation into the child abuse charges at the private school revealed he had engaged in “grooming behaviors.” Because of this, detectives are “confident” additional victims may exist and are asking anyone with information contact Detective Larocque at 352-369-6805.

Similar allegations were made against Prophet in 2017, according to the sheriff’s office.
