Chicago Authorities Announce $1,000 Reward Following Fatal Hit-and-Run of Jermaine Martin in Gage Park

A tragic hit-and-run incident on Chicago’s Southwest Side is now the focus of a $1,000 reward aimed at gathering information to solve the case.

Jermaine Martin, aged 22, tragically lost his life at approximately 3:20 a.m. on August 9, located in the 5000 block of South Kedzie Avenue, according to police reports.

In a bid to catch those responsible, Chicago police have shared images of a vehicle suspected to be involved in the fatal incident.

Authorities report that the driver of a silver Toyota 4Runner was traveling northbound when they disregarded a traffic light and struck Martin as he was crossing the street.

The driver of a silver Toyota 4Runner was heading northbound when they ignored a traffic signal and went through the crosswalk, hitting the 22-year-old man, police said.

Martin was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His death was ruled a homicide.

The driver fled the scene, and no one is in custody, police said. Investigators believe the vehicle is between a 2014 and 2024 model.

Cook County Crime Stoppers announced a $1,000 reward Saturday for information leading to an arrest in the case.
