While the likelihood of severe weather from this storm cluster is low, there remains a chance of hail and strong winds.
Additional isolated thunderstorms could develop later in the afternoon and evening on Friday.
Mowry notes that these storms carry risks of high winds, hail, and a slight chance of tornado activity.
Much of the Chicago area is under a Level 1 severe threat, but some south, west and north suburbs are under a Level 2 risk of severe weather.
Friday night into Saturday morning, there will be a scattering of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m.
Those scattered storms could also become severe. It’s a low threat with high wind as the biggest concern.
The first day of Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Chicago funeral services are Friday, with high-profile dignitaries expected to come to the city, including former presidents.
