One incident captured on surveillance footage occurred at ChiTown Food & Deli, situated in the Loop. The video shows a white SUV arriving on Wabash Avenue shortly after 3 a.m.

As the vehicle stops, two individuals exit while a third remains inside. The pair swiftly sets about smashing the establishment’s glass window in an attempt to gain entry.

According to the deli’s owner, Yousif Abdulla, the intruders aimed for the ATM inside but were ultimately unsuccessful in their bid to abscond with either the machine or any cash.

“Thank God they didn’t take anything,” Abdulla expressed to ABC7. “It’s really crazy. I can’t even believe this is happening in the Loop, downtown Chicago.”

Abdulla left to clean up about $1,000 worth of damage on Thursday morning.

He said they just opened the business two weeks ago.

“We came down here to invest. We’ve spent a lot of money, trying to serve the people around here, but I didn’t expect it to have something like that,” Abdulla said.

The entire event lasted just over one minute.

But that wasn’t the final stop on what appears to be a break-in spree.

In Rogers Park, Exotic Food & Snacks on Sheridan was also broken into around 3:45 this morning. The ATM was also tampered with, but wasn’t stolen.

10 minutes after that, Sluggers in Wrigleyville was hit.

The owner said three suspects were also seen on surveillance video breaking in and going after their ATM.

The thieves tried to pry it open and failed. Then, drove off in a similar white vehicle.

Sluggers said they’ve been burglarized about four times in the past three years.

The owner said their one number competition right now is crime in Chicago.

CPD says no one is in custody in any of the incidents, and its unclear if they are connected.
