ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. Click here to watch

This will be the first time the Chicago Cubs have been in the playoffs since 2020.

Fans and businesses here in Wrigleyville are ready for all the playoff excitement!

The best-of-three National League Wild Card Series clash against the San Diego Padres begins at 2:08 p.m. Tuesday right here on ABC7 with a flyover before the start of Game 1.

Though the Cubs haven’t flown the W for a playoff game since 2017, fans on Clark Street said this ballclub has the talent for a deep playoff run.

“The energy is super high, and everyone seems to be really positive and confident that we’re going to sweep this series,” said Cubs fan Hannah Webb.

“My guy, PCA, love PCA. He’s always there making plays, and Seiya’s got a big little home run streak going on. (Jogger: Let’s go baby!) There we go. Everybody’s excited,” said Cubs fan Kevin Connors.

The Wild Card Series against the Padres gives Wrigleyville businesses at least two more home games, elongating busy season surrounding the Friendly Confines.

At Sluggers Bar and Grill, they’ll be ready with extra staffing and security and say they’re collaborating with other business owners on a neighborhood safety plan.

The city says it’s also prepared with its own plan to secure the area around the ballpark.

Gallagher Way opens just after 11 a.m. with gates opening at 12:08 p.m.

Watch the first two Wild Card games on ABC7 Chicago Tuesday and Wednesday.
