CHICAGO (WLS) — The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) reported that a man fatally shot by Chicago police on Monday was inside a vehicle linked to an earlier shooting on the Eisenhower Expressway.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the expressway incident, although it did cause significant traffic disruption during the busy afternoon commute.

COPA revealed that the police were tipped off about a white Mercedes located in the 800-block of North Homan Avenue in the Humboldt Park area. Around 5:30 p.m., an unmarked police vehicle attempted to stop the driver.
Instead of complying, the driver fled, striking a pedestrian in a crosswalk, authorities stated.
The Chicago Police Department (CPD) pursued the vehicle through an alley, where it ultimately collided with a CTA bus, COPA confirmed.
Police said the driver also hit an unmarked CPD squad car.
Witness video shared with ABC7 Chicago shows officers with guns drawn.
The car reversed and, while driving toward the bus, an officer shot at it, COPA said.
The driver was shot and taken to a hospital, where he died.
He has not yet been identified.
Two officers were also taken to a hospital in good condition. A weapon was recovered on the scene, COPA said.
Anyone with information or video footage related to the shooting is urged to call COPA at 312-746-3609 or visit ChicagoCOPA.org.
