A Chicago-based surgeon has been formally charged in connection with the double homicide of his former spouse and her husband in Ohio.
Michael McKee, a 39-year-old living in Lincoln Park, stands accused of murdering his ex-wife, Monique Tepe, and her husband, Spencer Tepe, who was a dentist, during the holiday season in Columbus.

The bodies of the couple were discovered, both fatally shot, at their residence on December 30. Their two young children were unharmed and located safely inside the home.
According to court records, McKee was linked to the crime scene through neighborhood surveillance video.
The investigation spanned multiple states and attracted national media attention. However, authorities eventually apprehended McKee in Rockford on Saturday. It remains unclear what brought McKee, a vascular surgeon by profession, to that location.
A grand jury in Franklin County, Ohio returned an indictment against McKee on Friday. He is charged with two counts of Aggravated Murder, one count of Aggravated Burglary and two counts of Aggravated Murder.
All counts include a three-year firearm specification for using a gun to commit Aggravated Murder and a six-year firearm specification for using a firearm suppressor.

According to court records, McKee and Monique Tepe divorced in 2017. A motive for the killings is not yet known.
McKee remains in jail in Winnebago County while he awaits extradition to Franklin County.
