Winner winner, chicken dinner!

Chick-fil-A has subtly revamped its waffle fries recipe by removing an ingredient that some customers found less than “appetizing.”

Since introducing waffle fries back in 1985, the fast-food chain encountered significant criticism after incorporating pea starch into the recipe in late 2024.

According to the company, the pea starch was intended to help the fries maintain their crispiness over time. However, this change sparked a mixed reaction among patrons.

In response to the public outcry, Chick-fil-A has announced the removal of pea starch from its waffle fries, as reported by People. This change is now reflected on the restaurant’s official website, where pea starch no longer appears in the list of ingredients.

The move has been welcomed by scores of diners – especially those who suffer from allergies.

“Thanks Chick-fil-A for taking pea starch out of your fries,” one chuffed X user said.

“My son with food allergies can eat them again!”

“THEY REMOVED THE PEA STARCH!! HALLELUJAH!!” another wrote on Facebook.

“I’m gonna miss that pea starch. Said no one,” a third diner quipped as they welcomed the recipe change.

Diners said the fries taste better now that pea starch is no more.

Some Chick-fil-A lovers said they could tell pea starch has been removed from the recipe as their fries are “soggy.”

Scores of diners had been lobbying restaurant chiefs to make a change.

One X user asked if there was an online petition after describing pea starch as “not appetizing.”

“Hate the new fries!! Please change them back,” a diner said, commenting on a December 2024 Instagram post.

“Your new fries are terrible. I can’t even eat them anymore and they were my favorite thing. Please go back,” another said at the time.
