Neither side big winners in Supreme Court ruling: Chris Sununu

() Despite some crowning Friday’s Supreme Court ruling as a victory for President Trump, former Republican New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu doesn’t necessarily see it that way.

He joined “CUOMO,” alongside host of “The Aggressive Progressive” podcast Chris Hahn, to discuss the 6-3 ruling that found universal injunctions “likely exceed the equitable authority that Congress has granted to federal courts.“

Notwithstanding the ruling, the Supreme Court did not decide on whether Trump’s executive order to restrict birthright citizenship is constitutional.

“I don’t think it’s a huge win on either side, and it’s definitely not a win for birthright citizenship, because they haven’t even taken that up yet,” Sununu said.

“I think it’ll pass. They’ll vote on it, but that will probably be a year or two away.”

Hahn was critical of the Supreme Court not ruling against Trump’s executive order.

“The Supreme Court had the ability to see this for what it was, a blatant violation of the plain meaning of the 14th Amendment,” Hahn said.

“They could have mentioned that dictum, or they could have ruled on it themselves, because they’ve been known to twist themselves into pretzels to make rulings that are clearly needed.”
