The non-sworn civilian corrections control assistant had a “physical altercation” with the victim near Wolfson High on the Southside Friday night, police said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) announced the arrest of an employee Saturday who has since resigned from her position.

On Friday around 10:30 p.m., JSO officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 6700 block of Wolfpack Way, near Wolfson High School on the Southside.

Renee Mayweathers, a non-sworn civilian Corrections Control Assistant, began her position in August 2024.

The agency said Mayweathers, 30, became upset with the victim and a verbal argument ensued, which led to a “physical altercation.”

Mayweathers reportedly threw a small backpack that hit the victim in the face, police said, and the victim was forced to physically restrain Mayweathers to avoid further physical violence. JSO said Mayweathers armed herself with a knife at one point, but “no further advances or threats were made toward the victim.”

Mayweathers was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge and taken to the Pre-Trial Detention Facility.

After her arrest, Mayweathers resigned from her position, the agency said.
