WASHINGTON — In a precautionary move, over 158,000 chairs and barstools from Clark Associates are being recalled following incidents of leg breakage, which have resulted in several injuries. These pieces, primarily sold to restaurants but also available to the general public, are part of the “Lancaster Table & Seating Powder-Coated Aluminum Outdoor Chairs and Barstools” collection, specifically those identified by the 180 item number.
The recall encompasses various models, including arm chairs, armless side chairs, and barstools. The primary concern is that the legs of these chairs can unexpectedly bend or break, posing a significant risk of falls. So far, there have been 36 reported cases of compromised chair legs, leading to four falls and three unspecified injuries.
The chairs, distributed nationwide and online, were available in a spectrum of colors such as blue, brown, dark gray, silver, red, white, aqua, black, green, burgundy, yellow, and orange, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The chair legs can bend or break while being used, posing a fall hazard. There have been 36 reports of broken or bent chair legs, which ended up in four falls and three injuries. The extent of the injuries was not included in the recall.
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission said the chairs were sold in various colors, including blue, brown, dark gray, silver, red, white, aqua, black, green, burgundy, yellow and orange.
Clark Pro and Clark National Accounts sold the chairs nationwide between April 2020 and October 2025. They were also sold online at Webstaurantstore.com for about $55 to $133.
While these retailers primarily sell equipment for restaurants, non-restaurant customers could purchase them through the online Webstaurant website.
A full list of item numbers to identify the recalled chairs can be found here. The item number can be found on order confirmation numbers, according to Clark. They are not seen on the actual chair.
Anyone with a recalled chair is urged to immediately stop using it and submit a refund request at the bottom of this website. Customers will need to provide their name, address, contact information, order number and other details. Refunds will be for the full cost of the chair and can come in store credit or a refund directly to the card used at the time of the purchase.
The recall says customers will have to write “RECALLED” in permanent marker or paint in a visible location and “dispose of the chair or barstool using your local waste handler” to qualify for a refund.
