In response to recent events, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office has announced that an increased number of deputies will be stationed at Clay High School on Tuesday as a precautionary measure.

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — An unusual deployment of deputies is set for Clay High School following an incident where a student, involved in a fight last Friday, shared a social media post depicting what seemed to be a firearm, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office reported.

In a Facebook update on Saturday, the Sheriff’s Office clarified that there are no confirmed threats against the school. Both the Sheriff’s Office and the Clay County School District are actively monitoring the situation concerning the student’s post.

The concerning post featured a student—whose name has not been released—posing with what appeared to be a gun.

Following a comprehensive threat assessment, which included interviews and searches of those involved, the Sheriff’s Office determined that the social media post was related to the prior altercation and that the firearm in question was actually an Airsoft pistol.

CCSO said its investigation into the incident remains active.
