The Coast Guard, alongside local agencies, is appealing for public help.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Authorities have launched a search operation following the discovery of an unmanned raft near the Mayport Ferry Landing, sparking concerns that someone may be in the water.
The U.S. Coast Guard Station in Mayport reported that search efforts commenced on Saturday morning after an 8-foot inflatable raft was found floating in the water without any occupants in sight.
This raft was discovered near the landing on the St. Johns River, according to the Coast Guard.
In response, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department have joined forces with the Coast Guard to bolster the search efforts.
