DENVER (KDVR) A young bull moose was spotted in Colorado this week, and after an unsuccessful attempt to capture the animal, it was safely relocated by wildlife officers.

The bull moose was seen in the Josephine B. Jones Park on Tuesday, where the Greeley Police Department said he “won a game of Capture the Moose with Colorado Parks and Wildlife.” The young moose had been spotted near a subdivision on Tuesday, according to the Evans Police Department.

CPW returned to the area Wednesday morning with renewed hopes to “Capture the Moose,” in which wildlife officers were successful. He was safely captured and relocated to a “more antler-friendly” area.

“No more moose-behaving for this gentleman!” the police department said on Facebook.

However, the presence of a moose in one of Colorado’s nonmountain towns is always a good opportunity to brush up on wildlife safety. The Greeley Police Department warned residents to keep pets on leashes and away from the moose, which will stomp dogs or people if threatened.

The agency also warned motorists to keep an eye out while on the roads, noting that the moose “does not have insurance and your vehicle will lose against him.”

The agency also noted that harassing wildlife is against the law. That includes touching the animals or allowing a dog to threaten them.

Earlier this year, a moose was shot while attempting to stomp a woman, and CPW was forced to humanely euthanize the calf. The euthanizations came during a spate of moose attacks during calfing season in Colorado.
