A couple have candidly revealed how they listed a $231 speeding ticket on their wedding registry so that guests could pay it off for them.

Lovebirds Annabelle and James, from Austin, Texas, were left devastated after they were slapped with a speeding fine just 26 days before they were due to tie the knot.

However, they had a crafty idea of how they will pay the penalty off – adding it to their gift registry.

‘Wedding in 26 days, timing couldn’t be better,’ bride-to-be Annabelle wrote sarcastically in the caption of a TikTok post.

In the video, Annabelle showed fiance James sitting in front of a computer holding an envelope containing the $231 penalty for driving over the speed limit.

‘Feel free to support James in his down-bad era on The Knot at Annabelle and James’s Wedding Registry,’ she wrote in the caption of the clip.

In the 15-second-clip, Annabelle showed their registry list on the computer screen, focusing on a section for ‘cash fund’ on their digital gift wish list and a picture of a police officer issuing the fine.

She then zoomed in on her fiance updating their registry, writing ‘PLEASE HELP,’ as he added the speeding fine to the cash fund.

The video has been viewed over 380,000 times, with many TikTok users sympathizing with the pair’s situation – and finding their idea to add it to the registry hilarious.

‘Now this is a wedding gift I can get behind,’ one viewer declared.

‘I got a speeding ticket the night before our wedding… guess it happens to the best of us,’ added another.

‘My husband got a speeding ticket the day of our rehearsal dinner so very relatable,’ agreed another.

Sharing tips on how to save money while planning a wedding is something cash-savvy content creators often share online.

In June, a newlywed was applauded for organizing a backyard wedding for less than $2,000, keeping her wedding celebrations cheap by not splashing out on an extravagant dress or hiring out a pricey venue.

The Floridian bride wore a chic $148 dress she found online and hosted her nuptials in her own home, using simple decorations.

Recently, another thrifty bride in Colorado went viral after posting a TikTok video revealing she achieved her dream bohemian wedding – and managed to slash the cost of a regular florists.

‘We had 30 people at our wedding, and I spent, I think, about $200 on flowers,’ she shared on TiKTok. ‘Honestly, I probably could have spent about $150.’
