Fans are eager to take advantage of a limited-time offer available for one day only at Dairy Queen.

“The fast-food franchise is commemorating the beginning of spring by offering its clients a complimentary vanilla ice cream cone at selected branches on Free Cone Day.”

‘Free Cone Day is by far one of our favorite days of the year,’ said Maria Hokanson, Executive Vice President of Marketing at American Dairy Queen.

‘There’s nothing sweeter than enjoying a tasty cone – on DQ – to kick off a season full of reasons to celebrate.’

Customers on social media platforms have already started showing off their free treats, which one person insisted was a ‘great way to celebrate spring.’

‘Dairy Queen free cone day AND Yuji Itadori’s bday? Life isn’t so bad after all,’ an X user wrote.

‘TODAY, have a FREE cone at Dairy Queen. Ice cream Thursday (first day of spring). It’s like ice cream Friday. But a day early,’ another fan joked on X.

A few others noticed Free Cone Day was also happening on the first day of Round 1 of March Madness.

Loyal customers were anticipating the fan-favorite deal since the chain announced the offer’s return on March 3.

It even posted multiple photos of models wearing white shirts and light pants that resemble the color of a cone with the phrase ‘Me planning my Free Cone Day fit’ on each one.

‘I’m dreaming of eating all the cones,’ a fan commented on the chain’s Instagram post.

Unfortunately, Dairy Queen will only be handing out one free small cone per customer.

Fans are also required to make a purchase at the participating stores before redeeming the vanilla treat.

This offer is not valid for customers placing online or mobile orders.

Dairy Queen has urged its fans who score a free cone to share it on social media and tagging @DairyQueen and using #FreeConeDay.

Dairy Queen enthusiasts had already been excited for the highly anticipated return of its S’mores Blizzard.

Its Rewards members had voted for the treat to come back to menus last December.

‘You asked, we answered: S’mores BLIZZARD Treat is coming out of the DQ Freezer, Summer 2025, in all its chocolatey, marshmallowy glory,’ Dairy Queen wrote in a social media post.

The ice cream empire later confirmed the S’mores Blizzard would make its triumphant return to menus in April.

The other two Blizzard flavors in the vote were Cappuccino Heath and Georgia Mud Fudge.

The fan-favorite menu item has been praised for its taste and ingredients since 2013 and topped multiple ‘best of’ Dairy Queen Blizzard lists.

Other items Dairy Queen will be adding to its menus next month are is the Crunchin’ Cookie Dipped Cone, Wild Alaskan Pacific Code Sandwich, and the Orange Cream Shake.

Although its parent company, Berkshire Hathaway, made $334.2 billion in revenue last year, it suddenly closed 25 Dairy Queen stores in Texas this year.

Various items from the stores, like grills and refrigerators, were put up for auction in February, which has since ended.

All the locations were owned by one franchisee, who operates the remaining stores in Texas.

‘We do not publicly comment on contract terms,’ a spokesperson said in February.

‘After these closures, know that Texas continues to lead the country in the number of DQ restaurants.’
