Cynthia Bailey reveals worrying reason why Ozempic didn't work for her

As Cynthia Bailey begins a new diet to shed some pesky pounds, she is getting real about the pitfalls of another popular weight loss method she has also tried – Ozempic.

In an interview with E! News, Bailey revealed she stopped using the weight loss drug after just one month after she found herself losing interest in eating food.

Bailey, 57, revealed she was convinced to begin taking it after seeing the results her friends were achieving on it.

However, after losing her appetite for beloved foods such as BBQ ribs and crab cakes, Cynthia decided to stop.

Ongoing research into Ozempic shows the drug has numerous side effects, including some that may impact mental health, both for the positive and negative.

‘I did want to take the shot initially because all my friends look great on the shot without question,’ she said.

‘I tried it for a month. Honestly, for me, it didn’t work because I still like food and I found I just had no interest in food. Food is like something that I enjoy and I just didn’t like the way it made me feel.’

While Cynthia acknowledged many people are happy with the drug, she conceded it just wasn’t for her.

‘For me it did not. I didn’t enjoy it because when I get my crab cake and my salad and my oysters and my BBQ ribs, I want to enjoy it. I was just literally looking at the food like, “What is this? What am I supposed to do with this?”‘

Research has linked Ozempic to a variety of side effects, and has also raised concerns about the drug’s potential impact on mental health.

Cynthia’s new diet comes after she found herself gaining some weight this past year, which she attributed to several factors, including being in a new relationship.

‘I don’t know if it was the stress of shooting season 16 of Housewives that had me eating everything that I could find and definitely drinking everything I could find,’ she said.

‘I gained a lot of happy weight. I’ve been in a relationship for the past 10 months now and I started not to be able to fit in my clothes anymore. I’m on the other side of menopause. It’s like a lot of reasons.’

Her goal is to simply fit back into her clothes. ‘I’m not trying to be skinny. I just want to get back into my clothes.’

Cynthia also recently announced her partnership with WeightWatchers, a points-based diet program endorsed by many celebrities.

And already she’s noticed results, including being able to fit in to a pair of jeans she hasn’t been able to wear in quite some time.

Bailey raved about the results she was able to achieve in video posted to her Instagram on Wednesday.

‘So it’s been two weeks since I announced that I’m starting my weight loss journey with WeightWatchers. Since joining I’ve started noticing many changes. Not just on the scale but in how my clothes fit.

‘For example, I was finally able to zip up a pair of jeans that I haven’t worn in a while and I just felt like such a win.

‘What I love the most about WeightWatchers is how flexible and livable the program is. The Points System makes it so easy for me to enjoy the foods that I love but in moderation and I don’t feel deprived.

‘Getting back into a workout routine has also been a huge part of this journey for me. Another major win has been the personalized support from my WeightWatchers Registered Dietitian.

‘She’s given me so many helpful tips to make the program work from my busy lifestyle like ways to incorporate ZeroPoints foods into my day.

‘Having that one-on-one guidance has been a game changer.
