TMZ sifts through surveillance video of Celeste Rivas Hernandez

() Recording artist D4vd has been keeping a low profile as Los Angeles police investigate the discovery of a teen girl’s body in a Tesla registered to the R&B singer, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t made any moves.

According to legal documents obtained by celebrity website TMZ, D4vd real name David Anthony Burke last month transferred the deeds of two Houston area properties into a trust for his mother. The properties include a residence that was the target of a Sept. 18 “swatting” prank that caught up some of his family members.

D4vd’s career has effectively been put on hold since the remains of Celeste Rivas Hernandez were pulled Sept. 8 from the front trunk of his Tesla. The abandoned vehicle had been towed from Hollywood Hills, close to where the singer had been renting a residence, and impounded before the gruesome discovery was made.

Rivas Hernandez had been missing from her home in Lake Elsinore, California, since early 2024, when she was 13. An official cause of death has not been determined, officials said.

Police have not identified D4vd as a suspect in the death, but investigators searched the rental property where he had been staying. Representatives of the singer say the 20-year-old has cooperated with authorities.

Tesla could yield answers, experts say

The singer’s 2023 Tesla, which is loaded with sensors and cameras, could yield a trove of information, depending on how the vehicle had been configured, digital forensic expert Jason Lewis has said.

“If ‘Sentry Mode’ was actually activated on the vehicle, then it’s doing a lot of recording of video footage from its eight external cameras,” he said, referring to the security system for parked and locked Teslas. “You’d actually have clips of the people actually opening the door, a clip of someone opening the trunk, and that could possibly be recovered by the police.”

If Sentry Mode was not activated, there would not be footage recorded by the stationary vehicle. Another thing to consider, Lewis told “Banfield” recently, is that owners can delete videos remotely if any were recorded, though police may still have a chance of recovering the information.
