Dave Portnoy again attacks Bill Belichick over CBS interview featuring Jordon Hudson -- questions head coach's rebuttal statement

Dave Portnoy kept up his criticism of Bill Belichick’s strange CBS interview with Jordon Hudson as well as the University of North Carolina head coach’s response to the controversial segment.

The paragraph is maintained. The text is rewritten and structured in the same length. The content remains the same.

The paragraph count remains the same: 1.

“The fact that this statement is on the official website of North Carolina is bonkers,” the Barstool Sports founder posted on X Wednesday with a screenshot of Belichick’s statement.

Portnoy also questioned whether the six-time Super Bowl champion head coach was even aware that the statement had been released.

“I think Bill is probably as aware that this statement was released as he was that he has a very active instagram account,” the diehard New England Patriots fan wrote in another post on X.

The former Patriots head coach released a statement on Wednesday, calling out “CBS Sunday Morning” for “selective editing” from his much-derided interview, which featured Hudson, 24, interrupting the segment to say her 73-year-old boyfriend would not answer a question about how they met.

“We’re not talking about this,” the former cheerleader at Bridgewater State University said, interrupting CBS’s Tony Dokoupil during the interview.

The North Carolina head coach wrote that he had “clearly communicated” to his publicist, Simon & Schuster, that any promotional interviews would be “solely” on his upcoming book, “The Art of Winning – Lessons from My Life in Football.”

“The final eight-minute segment does not reflect the productive 35-minute conversation we had, which covered a wide range of topics related to my career,” Belichick wrote.

He wrote that the clips made it appear that they were “avoiding the question,” but explained that they “have been open about the fact that Jordon and I met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021.”

“Instead, it presents edited clips and stills from just a few minutes of the interview to suggest a false narrative — that Jordan was attempting to control the conversation — which is simply not true.”

However, a CBS News spokesperson rebutted that the outlet had made any agreement on any “preconditions or limitations” on what would be asked during the sit-down.

“When we agreed to speak with Mr. Belichick, it was for a wide-ranging interview,” the spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday. “There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation. This was confirmed repeatedly with his publisher before the interview took place and after it was completed.”

Portnoy had commented on the interview before Belichick’s statement during the “Barstool Rundown” podcast, where he said the clip had him “squirming.”

“Imagine my surprise this morning when they had the most awkward Bill Belichick interview I’ve ever seen,” Portnoy said Tuesday. “I was squirming in my seat.”

Hudson’s awkward shutdown response to a question about how the polarizing couple met wasn’t the only thing that caused Portnoy to squirm.

He was also shocked that the interview showed photos of Belichick and Hudson from Halloween.

“I don’t know if he knew anyone else saw those photos,” the Barstool Sports founder said.

“I was literally squirming. Then it went crazy viral. People are saying he’s like being held hostage. I don’t think he knows still what social media is and that these photos are out there.”

Hudson and Belichick first crossed paths on a 2021 flight, three years before they made their relationship public.

When they met, Belichick signed a copy of Hudson’s “Deductive Logic” textbook, a moment she reflected on Tuesday in an Instagram Story.

However, the bizarre moment during the “CBS Sunday Morning” interview has allegedly raised concerns among those around the legendary head coach.

Hudson allegedly had interrupted the interview “numerous” times and she had even stormed off the set, wanting Belichick to follow her — delaying the interview 30 minutes, TMZ reported.

Following the interview, people at Chapel Hill were reportedly becoming concerned about Hudson’s influence over Belichick, with a source saying there was a “growing sense this could become a problem,” according to TMZ.

One former Patriots player, Ted Johnson, even told WEEI this week that UNC “should consider firing Bill Belichick.”

Belichick’s daughter-in-law, Jennifer Schmitt, the wife of Belichick’s son Stephen, even appeared to throw shade at Hudson over her decision to interrupt the interview.

“Publicists act in a professional manner and don’t ‘storm’ off set delaying an interview,” Schmitt commented on a post for former New England Patriots Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski, “Dudes on Dudes” podcast.
