Delivery Duo Charged with $58K Amazon Package Theft in Shocking Betrayal of Trust

ANKENY, Iowa — A couple from Altoona has been apprehended on allegations of stealing Amazon packages that they were supposed to deliver to customers.

Brandon Helderman, 26, and Madison Helderman, 25, each face a charge of first-degree theft. According to Sgt. Trevor McGraw from the Ankeny Police Department, the couple surrendered themselves at the Polk County Jail on Wednesday morning.

In an unrelated event, Las Vegas experienced a ‘shooting spree’ impacting casinos, a child, and a police building, as reported by authorities.

Sgt. McGraw explained that both Brandon and Madison were employed as Amazon Flex drivers, responsible for delivering packages using their own vehicles. The alleged thefts occurred between August 22nd and September 7th, during which time the couple is accused of intentionally taking packages from an Ankeny distribution center meant for delivery and keeping them instead. The total value of the pilfered items amounts to $57,996.
