() Police say “American Idol” executive Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca, may have been dead for days before being found shot to death in their California home.
According to The Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Police Department said they believed the couple, both 70, had been killed on July 10 after walking in on someone inside the house. A call for a possible burglary was placed at the couple’s $4.5 million Encino home that day. Their bodies were discovered by Police on Monday afternoon during a welfare check.
Raymond Boodarian, 22, the suspect in the shooting, was arrested Tuesday. Investigators said the killings appeared to be random, but were still looking for any connection between Boodarian and the victims, and whether he was involved in any past police calls at the home.
Boodarian has a history of alleged criminal offenses, according to court records, including battery, exhibiting a deadly weapon and threatening to commit a crime with the intent to terrorize. Those charges were later dismissed after hearings related to mental competency and a conservatorship.
In a statement to the Times, a spokesperson for “American Idol” said the team was “devastated” by the news of Kaye’s and Deluca’s death, calling Kaye “a cornerstone of the ‘Idol’ family.”
“(Kaye) was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her,” the statement continued. “Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.”
Kaye worked as a supervisor on the singing competition from 2009 to 2023 and worked on nearly 300 episodes, according to her IMDb page. She also has credits on several “Miss Universe” TV specials, numerous NAACP Image Awards ceremonies, “The Singing Bee,” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
DeLuca was a singer-songwriter who recorded his own albums in 1986 and most recently in 2022.
