(The Hill) — The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said multiple Customs and Border Protection officers were wearing body cameras during the fatal shooting of protester Alex Pretti on Saturday in Minneapolis.

Camera footage from various angles is currently being reviewed by investigators, a DHS official told The Hill’s sibling outlet NewsNation.

Outrage from lawmakers, former presidents and the public has bubbled after bystander footage showed Pretti being shot after recording with his phone.

Greg Bongino, commander-at-large of the Border Patrol, accused Pretti of approaching officers with a handgun.

“The victims are the Border Patrol agents. I’m not blaming the Border Patrol agents,” Bovino said during a Sunday interview with CNN’s Dana Bash.

“The victims are the Border Patrol agents. The suspect put himself in that situation,” he added.

President Donald Trump, in response to outrage, sent Border Czar Tom Homan to Minnesota to provide a “fair” response to increased demonstrations.

“I am sending Tom Homan to Minnesota tonight. He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there,” Trump wrote in a Monday post on Truth Social, adding that he had a good call with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) earlier in the day.

“Tom is tough but fair and will report to me,” Trump wrote.
