NEW YORK (The Hill) In a stunning turn of events, Zohran Mamdani emerged victorious over former Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday night, claiming the mayoralty in an election that attracted two million voters to the polls.
Just a few months prior, Mamdani’s campaign was considered a long shot, with initial polls showing him trailing in the single digits. Many doubted his ability to overcome Cuomo’s political influence.
Ultimately, Mamdani not only secured a win but managed to do so decisively, defeating Cuomo twice.
