Pizza continues to hold a special place in the hearts—and stomachs—of Americans, even though its standing among fast food options has slipped slightly in recent years.
WASHINGTON — Good news for pizza enthusiasts: National Pizza Week is here!
From Sunday, January 11, to Saturday, January 17, this week-long celebration pays tribute to one of America’s most beloved culinary delights.
Earlier this month, The Wall Street Journal highlighted a decline in the popularity of pizza restaurants among U.S. diners. However, pizza remains a top choice for many, particularly as prices soar for other fast food alternatives.
Remarkably, a 2014 report from the U.S. government revealed that one in eight Americans indulged in a slice of pizza every day.
To celebrate National Pizza Week, several major chains across the U.S. are offering discounts and promotions. Here’s what’s on the menu:
Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut is spotlighting its Big New Yorker pizza with a $10 deal available now and continuing beyond National Pizza Week. The 16-inch pizza is being promoted with help from seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, who appears in a television commercial portraying a Pizza Hut delivery driver so he can keep saying “hut” after retiring from the NFL.
The chain is also running a playful promotion for football fans, challenging an NFL quarterback to say “pizza” before “hut” during a nationally televised game. If it happens, the quarterback’s city wins a free Big New Yorker pizza party.
Domino’s
Domino’s is rolling out multiple National Pizza Week specials. The chain’s Mix and Match Deal lets customers choose two or more menu items, including medium two-topping pizzas, breads, Loaded Tots, boneless chicken, pastas, sandwiches, salads or desserts, for $6.99 each.
Domino’s is also offering a $19.99 Perfect Combo Meal that includes two medium one-topping pizzas and two orders of 16-piece Bread Bites.
In addition, a weeklong carryout deal features one-topping pizzas or an eight-piece order of wings for $7.99 each.
Casey’s
Casey’s convenience stores are offering 25% off whole pizzas from Sunday, Jan. 11, through Saturday, Jan. 17, when customers use the promo code PIZZAWEEK.
Casey’s, the nation’s third-largest convenience store chain, is also introducing a new menu item: the Barn Burner Chicken Pizza.
The pizza won the company’s annual Pizza Competition and was created by district manager Terrell Banks of Indianapolis. It features grilled chicken, bacon, mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, red onion and jalapeños on a Sriracha sauce base, finished with a drizzle of Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce.
The pizza is available in select markets, including Indianapolis; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Dayton, Ohio; and several cities across Illinois.
At other stores, the Twisted Pepperoni Pizza and Ultimate Meat Pizza are fresh on the menu.
California Pizza Kitchen
California Pizza Kitchen is marking National Pizza Week with a $5 pizza deal for members of its CPK Rewards loyalty program.
The offer includes select pizzas such as the Original BBQ Chicken Pizza, cheese, pepperoni, gluten-free options and Take & Bake pizzas. The deal is valid for dine-in, takeout and CPK delivery, excluding third-party delivery services, at all locations except those in Hawaii.
