Her mother is an icon of European cinema, and at 20-years-old it looks as if this stunning actress is headed in the same direction. 

Her latest role will be in the forthcoming Netflix adaptation of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s novel The Leopard. 

She is also a brand ambassador for Cartier and Dior and has appeared in numerous Dolce & Gabbana fragrance ads. 

The model made her film debut in the 2023 Italian drama The Beautiful Summer and graced catwalks in 2021 and 2022.

This young actress, whose mother is a renowned figure in European cinema, is making waves at just 20 years old. She is set to star in the upcoming Netflix adaptation of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s novel The Leopard.

That’s right, Deva Cassel’s mother is Italian actress Monica Bellucci, 60, and her father is French actor Vincent Cassel, 58 (pictured in 2000)

The former model met Vincent in 1996 on the set of Gilles Mimouni’s film The Apartment. 

They were together for three years before marrying in a quiet ceremony in Monaco, on the French Riviera.

Monica and Vincent were married from 1999 to 2013 before mutually agreeing to separate. They share two daughters Deva, 20, and Leonie, 14. 

The Italian actress is now in a relationship with Tim Burton and the couple have been together since 2023. 

Vincent gained immense popularity in France with his role in ‘La Haine’ (Hate), a movie that revolves around young delinquents in a troubled housing estate in Paris.

Meanwhile, Monica became famous for her roles in a variety of films including Malèna, Under Suspicion, The Passion of the Christ, and Spectre. 

Deva previously admitted that her parents ‘leave me to make up my own mind’ when it comes to her career. 

Having initially met on the set of Gilles Mimouni’s movie The Apartment in 1996, the former model and Vincent dated for three years before tying the knot in a private ceremony in Monaco, as shown in a picture from 2002.

While discussing whether she would give up modelling for acting, Deva said: ‘I’m too attached to fashion to completely leave the business or to have it take second place. I plan on doing both for the foreseeable future.’ 

‘My parents leave me to make up my own mind. The most frequent advice is, “Sure, go for it, but always keep your head on your shoulders” and “Enjoy what you do”.’ 

She added: ‘I think it could be a lot of fun to find myself on the same set as my parents, shooting a movie or a series together.’

‘We sometimes discuss the idea. I’m open to it, but not just yet, since I feel that I still have a lot of road to travel first.’

In November 2023, Deva opened up to Gen V by V Magazine about her relationship with her parents and how they have encouraged her career in the industry.

She told the magazine: ‘They taught me to always look forward, to always protect myself, to always be kind, and always keep wonder in mind.’

‘There’s much more, but the point is that they’ve taught me how to handle unexpected situations and live by my own rules, while always respecting people and the environment I’m in.’

‘I remember browsing through my mom’s huge fashion books that she kept in the house for as long as I can remember.’

‘Everything was so looked after and beautiful. I knew I wanted to work in that industry at some point in my life, but I definitely didn’t expect to love it this much and make a living out of it.’

Deva continued: ‘I really did not want to be an actor for most of my childhood. It was something that everyone kept asking me as a kid and it really pushed me away from that career path.’

The youngster has been making leaps and bounds into the world of beauty and fashion, sharing a cover of Italian Vogue with her mother for the July 2021 issue. 

And she is now set to star in the upcoming Netflix series The Leopard, based on the classic novel of the same name by Giuseppe.

Filming began last year and Deva will star as Angelica Sedara, the young stunning middle-class woman who becomes a catalyst of social disruption in the six-episode epic set against the backdrop of a social revolution in 1860s Sicily. 

The historical series with elements similar to Downton Abbey and The Crown is a modern take on the Sicilian saga famously adapted into a film by Luchino Visconti starring Claudia Cardinale, Alain Delon and Burt Lancaster.

The film, now an Italian cinema classic, won the 1963 Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
