“Fore” more years!
According to sources speaking to Page Six, Donald Trump intends to spend a significant amount of time at Mar-a-Lago, also known as the “Winter White House,” rather than being based full-time in Washington, DC.
One insider mentioned that the President’s agenda involves traveling to Palm Beach during weekends to indulge in his favorite pastimes of playing golf and hosting gatherings in familiar surroundings.
Describing the setup as the ‘Winter White House,’ the source revealed Trump’s preference for conducting meetings with world leaders and associates at Mar-A-Lago due to his comfort level there. Additionally, the source noted, “He has always been someone who seals deals while playing golf.”
POTUS did much the same during his first administration — so this is par for the course.
According to reports published in 2020, three years into his term, Trump had made 418 visits to Trump-branded properties with 307 days spent at golf clubs, according to CNN, based on pool reports, public schedules and public appearances. In 2017, he even teed up with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
However, sources had previously told us he planned to slice his golfing hours in his second term.
A source previously told Page Six back in November that Trump planned to “focus on the country” more than his handicap, but that it wouldn’t be “no golf ever.”
“It’s no golf with his regular buddies and friends who are members at the club,” they had told us. “There will be occasional games with Elon Musk or [Sen.] Lindsey Graham. But he’s focusing 24/7 on the country with history in mind. Some of his buddies have just been told their weekly games are on hold until the country is back on track!”
It seems he’s taken a mulligan on that plan.
In September, a man was arrested in an apparent assassination attempt close to one of Trump’s courses.
The real estate mogul owns 18 golf properties internationally.
