This holiday season, a cherished classic returns to the small screen, airing twice.
WASHINGTON — “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” is making a festive comeback on NBC, marking its second consecutive year on the network since its original premiere there in 1964. Viewers can catch the heartwarming special on Friday, December 5.
Initially debuting on NBC on December 6, 1964, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” spent 50 years with CBS before being welcomed back to NBC in 2024.
The timeless tale follows Rudolph, a reindeer ostracized from the Reindeer Games due to his luminous red nose. His journey of self-discovery introduces him to companions like Hermey the elf, Yukon Cornelius, and the Misfit Toys, as they evade the Abominable Snow Monster.
This year, NBC is also celebrating the season with other beloved animated favorites, such as “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and “Frosty the Snowman.”
“These holiday events and specials bring audiences together in ways nothing else can,” Jen Neal, NBCUniversal Entertainment’s executive vice president of live events and specials said. “NBC is your home for heartwarming traditions, joyful celebrations, and unforgettable moments.”
