Driver Hits Curb, Injures 9 Students During Iowa School Pickup: A Community in Shock

In a distressing event on Tuesday, nine students sustained injuries when a vehicle hit them at a school in Ankeny, Iowa, as confirmed by authorities.

The accident transpired around 3:15 p.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic School on NW Weigel Drive, during student pickup time, according to statements from city police and fire officials at a press briefing.

Officials reported that a car in the pickup line veered off course, mounting the curb and hitting the students.

The scene was chaotic but several parents waiting in line quickly stepped in to assist the injured children until emergency services arrived. The nine students were subsequently transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
